STONES IN HIS POCKETS

For a review of our recent production, click here.

  • We received the following letter from a member of the audience.

Dear Chairman

I wanted to write to commend your company for the recent production of Stones in his Pockets we saw last Friday which we thoroughly enjoyed.

I normally tend to support [another] group but was tempted to see The Riverside Players as I was interested to see how they tackled such a difficult two-hander.  I needn't have worried, the play was superb, brilliantly directed and well on a par with productions I was involved with as a professional theatre manager and BBC producer.

Stones in his Pockets is a brave choice of play and if we are to encourage younger audiences into attending theatre we have to expose them to work they can relate to. Interestingly, there were a large number of younger people in the audience on Friday - how refreshing I thought and this must be down to the choice of play.

I have seen Stones three times now - once at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, once at the Everyman and once in Heswall Hall - I was so impressed by my first Riverside Players production I shall definitely book again.

Congratulations to all concerned - I was so impressed that the Riverside Players chose a controversial, contemporary piece rather than the "safe" choices of other companies ... I will definitely be back for the next production.
